Automatic generation of neighbor lists in a wireless network
First Claim
1. A method comprising:
- receiving a first message from an overlapped base station, wherein the overlapped base station has a first coverage area, and wherein the first message comprises a location of the overlapped base station;
responsive to receiving the first message, identifying a set of one or more overlapping base stations based at least in part on the location of the overlapped base station, wherein each overlapping base station has a respective coverage area that overlaps the first coverage area, and wherein each overlapping base station further has a respective neighbor list that includes a neighbor set of one or more neighboring base stations of that overlapping base station;
generating a first neighbor list comprising the union of the set of overlapping base stations and the neighbor set of each overlapping base station; and
sending a second message to the overlapped base station, wherein the second message comprises the first neighbor list, wherein the overlapped base station receives the second message and broadcasts the first neighbor list in the first coverage area.

Abstract
Methods and systems are provided for automatic generation of neighbor lists in a wireless network. A first message is received from an overlapped base station. The overlapped base station has a first coverage area, and the first message comprises a location of the overlapped base station. Responsive to receiving the first message, a set of overlapping base stations is identified based at least in part on the location of the overlapped base station. Each overlapping base station has (i) a coverage area that overlaps the first coverage area and (ii) a neighbor list that includes a neighbor set of one or more neighboring base stations of that overlapping base station. A first neighbor list is generated and sent to the overlapped base station. The first neighbor list comprises of the union of the set of overlapping base stations and the neighbor set of each overlapping base station.
