1. A method for managing clients in a conference network based on client classification, the method comprising:

  • assigning a client to a class;

    monitoring an output filter at a conference server, the output filter associated with the assigned client; and

    shifting the assigned client to a different class when the output filter indicates that the assigned client is currently assigned to an inappropriate class, whereby the conference server may simultaneously handle data streams of different speeds for clients of different capabilities without adversely affecting a data stream of any particular class.
