1. A method for transmitting monitoring information comprising:

  • receiving content at a content display site, the content being provided by a content provider site via a proxy server, the content being associated with at least one monitoring function that causes display of the content to be detected;

    receiving the at least one monitoring function at the content display site from the content provider site, wherein receiving the at least one monitoring function is an event that is part of receiving the content;

    accessing the content at the content display site to cause display of the content and execution of the at least one monitoring function to cause collection of monitoring information in response to an event notification passed from a runtime environment in which the at least one monitoring function is operating; and

    transmitting the monitoring information a remote site that did not transfer the content file from the content provider site to the content display site and which is different from the content provider site by sending a request for a file to a daemon at the remote site, wherein a name of the requested file comprises the monitoring information.
