1. A method of managing overwrite on an optical disc, the disc including a specified area having data written therein, the method comprising:
- in response to a request that the specified area be overwritten, writing replacement-recording data associated with the specified area to a replacement area on the disc; and
recording management information for managing the replacement-recorded data, wherein the management information includes first and second entries, the first entry includes start address information of the specified area requested to be overwritten, and start address information of the replacement area corresponding to the specified area, the second entry includes end address information of the specified area requested to be overwritten, and end address information of the replacement area corresponding to the specified area, the first and second entries are consecutive entries, andeach of the first and second entries further includes status information for indicating whether the corresponding entry is either a leading entry or a following entry following the leading entry.

Abstract
A method of managing overwrite and a method of recording management information on an optical disc write once can make it possible to perform a logical overwrite on the disc and thus heighten the use efficiency of the disc. The method includes replacement-recording data which is requested to be overwritten in a specified area of the disc where recording is completed in another data area physically separated from the specified area in the disc, and producing and recording management information for reproducing the physically replacement-recorded data.
