A system for providing services within a network comprising coupled computers and with a virtual peer-to-peer search network, the virtual search network being a semantic overlay network which is used for the search of information or the services, whereinthe computers have storage mechanisms for storing objects, whereinthe objects have first mechanisms for loading, storing and processing descriptions of groups, whereinthe objects have second mechanisms for loading, storing and executing services assigned to the groups, whereinto each group belong those objects that have stored the description of the respective group, whereinthe description of a group determines a semantics of the services assigned to the respective group, whereinthe objects have search mechanisms for conducting parallel searches within different groups for objects having services assigned to the respective group and executable by the respective objects, and whereinthe objects have third mechanisms for initiating the execution of the services which are executable by another object of the group and assigned to the respective group.
