1. A medical device comprising:
- a probe having a longitudinal axis;
an electrode supported by the probe and rotatable relative to the probe about an axis generally transverse to the longitudinal axis of the probe; and
a specimen sheath operatively associated with the electrode such that the sheath is deployed as the electrode is rotated about the axis generally transverse to the longitudinal axis of the probe.

Abstract
An excisional biopsy method is disclosed. The method can include rotating an arcuate shaped electrode around a tissue specimen, and drawing a sheath around the tissue specimen as the specimen is cut from a tissue mass. In one embodiment, the method includes tunneling to a tissue site with one electrode, and cutting with a second electrode to obtain the tissue specimen.

2. A medical device comprising:
-
a disposable probe having a longitudinal axis; an electrode disposed at a distal end of the probe, the electrode being rotatable about an axis generally transverse to the longitudinal axis of the probe; and a specimen sheath stored in a relatively compact, stored configuration, and extendible to a relatively less compact, deployed configuration as the electrode is rotated about the axis generally transverse to the longitudinal axis of the probe. - View Dependent Claims (3, 4)
