1. A method of generating communication signals comprising the steps of:
- selecting a code comprising a set of chips, wherein each chip of the set of chips is one of a positive or negative nonzero value and a zero value, the set of chips are positioned in accordance with a first ruler of a set of rulers, the first ruler being substantially orthogonal to each other ruler in the set of rulers such that no two chips having non-zero values are adjacent and a first chip with a positive value and a second chip with a negative value are placed in accordance with a first pattern of a set of patterns corresponding to time-shifted versions of the first pattern, each pattern of the set of patterns substantially orthogonal to each other pattern of the set of patterns;
generating a signal using the code, wherein the nonzero values correspond to an amplitude of the signal; and
transmitting the generated signal.
