Abstract
A soybean cultivar designated SG3865N is disclosed. The invention relates to the seeds of soybean cultivar SG3865N, to the plants of soybean SG3865N, to plant parts of soybean cultivar SG3865N and to methods for producing a soybean plant produced by crossing soybean cultivar SG3865N with itself or with another soybean variety. The invention also relates to methods for producing a soybean plant containing in its genetic material one or more transgenes and to the transgenic soybean plants and plant parts produced by those methods. This invention also relates to soybean cultivars or breeding cultivars and plant parts derived from soybean variety SG3865N, to methods for producing other soybean cultivars, lines or plant parts derived from soybean cultivar SG3865N and to the soybean plants, varieties, and their parts derived from use of those methods. The invention further relates to hybrid soybean seeds, plants and plant parts produced by crossing the cultivar SG3865N with another soybean cultivar.

19. A method of introducing a desired trait into soybean cultivar SG3865N, wherein the method comprises:
-
a. crossing a SG3865N plant, wherein a representative sample of seed was deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-9370, with a plant of another soybean cultivar that comprises a desired trait to produce progeny plants wherein the desired trait is selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide resistance, insect resistance, modified fatty acid metabolism, modified carbohydrate metabolism, modified seed yield, modified oil percent, modified protein percent, modified lodging resistance, modified shattering, modified iron-deficiency chlorosis and resistance to bacterial disease, fungal disease or viral disease; b. selecting one or more progeny plants that have the desired trait to produce selected progeny plants; c. crossing the selected progeny plants with the SG3865N plants to produce backcross progeny plants; d. selecting for backcross progeny plants that have the desired trait and all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of soybean cultivar SG3865N listed in Table 1; and e. repeating steps (c) and (d) three or more times in succession to produce selected fourth or higher backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait and all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of soybean cultivar SG3865N listed in Table 1. - View Dependent Claims (20, 21, 22, 23)
