1. A method of increasing the signal-to-noise-plus-interference ratio of a radio frequency tag response, the method comprising:

  • receiving, with a first antenna element of a radio frequency tag reader, a radio frequency tag response, the radio frequency tag response including at least two signals, a noise-plus-interference signal and a response signal, the ratio of the response signal to the noise-plus-interference signal representing the signal-to-noise-plus-interference ratio of the received radio frequency tag response;

    receiving a second noise-plus-interference signal with a second antenna element of the radio frequency tag reader; and

    processing the received radio frequency tag response and the second noise-plus-interference signal to increase the signal-to-noise-plus-interference ratio of the received radio frequency tag response by reducing the noise-plus-interference signal of the received radio frequency tag response using the second noise-plus-interference signal.
