1. A method of implanting a device in the left atrial appendage, comprising:

  • providing an inflation catheter having an elongate flexible body with a proximal end and a distal end, and a balloon releasably attached to the distal end;

    said inflation catheter having a first inner tubular body and a second inner tubular body, the first inner tubular body being moveable with respect to the second inner tubular body between a first sealed position and a second inflation position, wherein said movement exposes or seals an inflation lumen provide on one of the tubular bodies within said balloon and wherein the inflation catheter is releasably attached to one of the tubular bodies, and axial movement of the inflation catheter moves the first inner tubular body relative to the second inner tubular body, thereby forming a two way valve that can be used for both inflation and deflation of said balloon, by operating the valve located within said balloon;

    said balloon including a spherical stop to limit motion of said valve and define said second position;

    said balloon has a proximal end and a distal end, and further comprises a plurality of anchors each of said plurality of anchors arranged in multiple circumferential rows along an outer surface of the balloon, that deploy with positive force thus displacing tissue in contact with said balloon and said anchors, some of said anchors pointing distally and some of said anchors pointing proximally;

    positioning at least a portion of the balloon in the left atrial appendage;

    inflating the balloon so that the balloon securely engages an inner surface of the left atrial appendage to displace the tissue in the LAA proximate the ostium of the LAA, thereby trapping the balloon in the LAA; and

    releasing the balloon from the distal end of the inflation catheter, with the balloon remaining securely engaged with the inner surface of the left atrial appendage.
