Rear suspension system for a bicycle
First Claim
1. A bicycle comprising:
- a first frame comprising;
a bracket;
a top tube including a first end portion and a second end portion distal the first end portion,a seat tube joined to the top tube proximate the first end portion of the top tube, a portion of the seat tube extending from the top tube towards the bracket; and
a down tube joined to the bracket, the down tube extending generally away from the bracket and the seat tube and generally towards the second end portion of the top tube;
a second frame;
a first pivot translating assembly;
a second pivot translating assembly;
a shock assembly operatively associated with the first frame and pivotally connected with the second pivot translating assembly;
wherein the first frame is coupled with the second frame through the first pivot translating assembly and the second pivot translating assembly; and
the first pivot translating assembly comprises a first pivot engaging a first pivot guide so as to move along the first pivot guide, the first pivot moving between the down tube and the seat tube as the first pivot moves along the first pivot guide.

Abstract
A bicycle may include a rear suspension system to absorb forces impacting on the bicycle by allowing a rear wheel of the bicycle to be displaced relative to the bicycle frame. Upon displacement of the rear wheel, the rear suspension system allows the rear wheel to move from a general first position to a second position, and then acts to return the rear wheel to the general first position. The rear suspension system may be adjusted in some versions to affect the travel path of the rear wheel as well as the leverage ratio curve to suit the rider'"'"'s preference. The bicycle may include a rear frame coupled with a front frame through first and second pivot translating assemblies, the orientations and/or shapes of which affect the rear wheel path as well as the leverage ratios.
