Oscillatory motors and devices incorporating them
First Claim
1. An oscillatory motor comprising a rotor assembly, a drive shaft mounted to move with the rotor assembly, a stator assembly, and a centering mechanism, wherein the rotor assembly incorporates at least one permanent magnet having an even number of poles, the stator assembly incorporates a toroidal coil assembly having at least one toroid core with a coil winding mounted outside and concentrically with the magnetic rotor, whereby when the toroidal coil assembly is energized, the rotor assembly and drive shaft are rotated with respect to the toroidal coil assembly from a neutral position through an arc or an angular displacement of less than 180°
- and the drive shaft is returned to a neutral position by the centering mechanism, and wherein the rotor assembly and drive shaft are rotated in opposite directions from the neutral position with respect to the toroidal coil assembly when the polarity of the input current is changed.
