b) based at least in part on an output of said location determination module, using a location-based algorithm to avoid oscillation between said first and second networks, said location-based algorithm including determining past instances of mobile node switching between networks and determining a criteria for handoff based on said instances;

a) using a location-based algorithm to mitigate oscillation between said first and second networks, said location-based algorithm including determining past instances of mobile node switching between networks and determining a criteria for handoff based on said instances; b) maintaining contexts related to a first network for a period of time such that the contexts can be quickly recovered when the mobile returns to the first network; c) having said mobile node use said contexts upon returning to said first network; said pre-authentication framework including said mobile node pre-authenticating with said second network before said mobile node moves from said first network to said second network. - View Dependent Claims (16, 17)

18. A method for mitigating effects of undesired switch back of a mobile node between a previous network and a new network in a media independent pre-authentication framework, comprising:
- using a location-based algorithm to mitigate oscillation between said first and second networks, said location-based algorithm including determining past instances of mobile node switching between networks and determining a criteria for handoff based on said instances; and
