1. An electrode assembly for a medical electrical lead, the assembly having a paddle shape and terminating a distal end of at least one elongate insulative tubular body of the lead, and the assembly comprising:

  • an insulative carrier including a first side and a second side opposite the first side;

    a plurality of conductive components, each of the conductive components including an electrode portion, having an inward facing surface and an outward facing contact surface, and at least one conductive tab, the electrode portion of each conductive component being disposed on the first side of the carrier and the at least one conductive tab of each conductive component extending away from the corresponding electrode portion, through the carrier to the second side of the carrier, the electrode portions being arranged in at least one longitudinally extending column, and the carrier extending directly beneath each electrode portion such that the inward facing surface of each electrode portion is disposed against and supported by the first side of the carrier;

    a plurality of flexible elongate conductors extending from within the at least one elongate insulative tubular body of the lead and into the assembly;

    a plurality of joints disposed on the second side of the carrier, each of the joints coupling a one of the plurality of flexible elongate conductors to the tab of a corresponding component of the plurality of components; and

    an insulative layer extending over the joints and the tabs and the conductors, the insulative layer being bonded to the second side of the carrier and forming a proximal portion of the assembly that extends around a distal portion of the at least one elongate insulative tubular body of the lead.
