An automatic external defibrillation device for delivering defibrillation shocks to a patient and for assisting a caregiver in delivering cardiac resuscitation to the patient, the device comprisingan electrode pad supporting at least one defibrillation electrode, the pad being configured to be adhesively applied to the chest of the patient;

  • at least one airway pressure sensor configured to detect information relating to the caregiver'"'"'s delivery of ventilations to the patient;

    wherein at least a portion of the airway pressure sensor is mounted on the electrode pad;

    a processor configured to process the output of the airway pressure sensor to determine a parameter descriptive of ventilation progress.
