1. A method for coupling a device operable at an operating radio frequency with a passive element including a body formed of a polymeric material loaded with a conductive filler, the body having an impedance at the operating frequency, the body including a surface, a portion of the surface defining a coupling area of a predetermined shape, the method comprising the steps of:

  • a) attaching a conductive pad having a shape and area corresponding to the predetermined shape and coupling area on the surface of the body, the attachment being effected in a non-penetrating manner, the attaching step including the use of a resilient biasing member to urge the conductive pad against the coupling area; and

    b) electrically connecting the device to the conductive pad,the pad being electrically coupled to the body through an impedance that is substantially capacitive reactive in nature, thereby to facilitate the transfer of electromagnetic energy at the operating radio frequency between the body and the pad.
