1. A method of mounting splice chips to a splice tray, the method comprising the steps of:
- a) providing at least two splice chips, each splice chip including a base having opposite interlockable ends and a latch member, each one of the two splice chips being capable of directly securing to the splice tray and being capable of directly securing to the other of the two splice chips in a stacked relationship;
b) securing a selected first one of the two splice chips directly to the splice tray, including positioning the interlockable ends of the first one splice chip within corresponding guides of the splice tray; and
c) securing the second other of the two splice chips to the first one splice chip, including snap-fitting one of the interlockable ends of the second other splice chip to the latch member of the first one splice chip.
