1. An implantable medical device, comprising:

  • a first case;

    a second case having a rail around at least a portion of a perimeter of said second case, said second case adapted to be mechanically secured to said first case;

    a coil selected from the group consisting of a telemetry coil and a charging coil;

    a power source operatively coupled to said source;

    a control module operatively coupled to said power source;

    said first having rigid fastening channel adapted to receive said rail of said second case;

    said rigid fastening channel having an opening allowing said rail of said second case to drop said rigid fastening channel through said opening and then slide along said rigid fastening channel to be mechanically secured to said first case;

    said first case containing at least one of said coil, said power source and said control module; and

    said second case containing those of said coil, said power source and said control module that are not contained within said first case;

    wherein a chamber is created around a perimeter of said second case between said second case and said first case and further comprising a sealant substantially filling said chamber.
