Abstract

A recording medium, method and apparatus for managing data are discussed. According to an embodiment, the present invention provides a method of reproducing main data and additional data. The method includes receiving the additional data associated with the main data, the additional data being divided into a plurality of segment units; and reproducing the additional data in a synchronous manner with the main data using time information if indication information indicates a presence of the time information. The time information indicates a presentation time of the additional data with respect to the main data. The main data and the additional data are reproduced according to management data, the management data including link information for linking the main data and the additional data.

Claims

1. A method of reproducing content data and additional data, the method being performed by a reproducing device and comprising:

receiving additional data associated with content data, the additional data including information for describing the content data; and

reproducing the additional data in a synchronous manner with the content data using indication information, time information, and management data, the indication information indicating a type of the time information, the time information being associated with a presentation time of the additional data, and the management data being used for associating the content data with the additional data,

wherein a single content data is associated with plural additional data.

2. The method of claim 1,

wherein the content data and the additional data are received separately, and

wherein reproducing the additional data further comprises:

reading the additional data and the content data separately, and

controlling a synchronization of the additional data with respect to the content data using the time information.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the indication information is provided separately from the content data and the additional data.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the additional data is divided into a plurality of segment units.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the management data includes the indication information.

6. The method of claim 4,

wherein each segment unit includes a corresponding time information, and

wherein each segment unit is reproduced based on the corresponding time information.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the time information is one of a start time or a duration time of the corresponding segment unit.

8. A device comprising:

a reading portion configured to read additional data associated with content data, the additional data including information for describing the content data; and

a processor configured to reproduce the additional data in a synchronous manner with the content data using indication information, time information, and management data, the indication information indicating a type of the time information, the time information being associated with a presentation time of the additional data, and the management data being used for associating the content data with the additional data,

wherein a single content data is associated with plural additional data.

9. The device of claim 8, further comprising a storage medium, wherein the storage medium stores the additional data describing the content data.

11. The device of claim 8, wherein the additional data is divided into a plurality of segment units.

10. A computer program product, tangibly embodied in a machine readable medium, the computer program product comprising instructions that, when read by a machine, operate to cause data processing apparatus to:

receive additional data associated with content data, the additional data including information for describing the content data; and

reproduce the additional data in a synchronous manner with the content data using indication information, time information, and management data, the indication information indicating a type of the time information, the time information being associated with a presentation time of the additional data, and the management data being used for associating the content data with the additional data,

wherein a single content data is associated with plural additional data.

12. The computer program product of claim 10, wherein the additional data is divided into a plurality of segment units.
