1. A wireless communications station for use in a wireless communications system, the wireless communications station comprising:

  • a switching processor configured to provide switching information in order to identify candidates among a plurality of transceiver stations that are available to service dedicated channels for communicating with mobile stations, each of the plurality of transceiver stations being configured to transmit and receive wireless signals over said broadcast channels and said dedicated channels, wherein said wireless signals are transmitted in bursts, and wherein the dedicated channels are capable of being switched among the plurality of transceiver stations;

    a switching controller configured to dynamically switch among ones of the plurality of transceiver stations to provide said dedicated channels for the mobile stations; and

    a macrodiversity timing controller configured to control the timing of said bursts to reduce misalignment of one or more of said bursts caused by the dynamic switching between the plurality of transceiver stations.
