1. An apparatus for controlling at least one lighting unit, comprising:

  • a data interface for receiving processor executable instructions for controlling the at least one lighting unit to generate at least one lighting sequence;

    a signal interface for receiving at least one external signal generated by at least one external device disposed remotely from the apparatus;

    a processor for processing said processor executable instructions to provide a data stream representing the at least one lighting sequence, the processor altering the processor executable instructions based on the at least one external signal to change at least one parameter or effect of the lighting sequence as the at least one lighting unit continues to generate the at least one lighting sequence, wherein the at least one external signal encodes the measurement of one or more of;

    volume, pitch, and inclination; and

    a data output for transmitting the data stream to the at least one lighting unit.
