First Claim
1. A glucose monitoring system, comprising:
- a sensor configured to detect one or more glucose levels;
a transmitter including a processor, the transmitter operatively coupled to the sensor to receive the detected one or more glucose levels, and to transmit signals corresponding to the detected glucose levels periodically; and
a receiver operatively coupled to the transmitter to receive transmitted signals corresponding to the detected one or more glucose levels, and to synchronize with the transmitter;
wherein the data communication between the transmitter and the receiver are synchronized based on a time variable or the transmitter is identified based on a data communication signal strength, andwherein the transmitter includes programming to transmit multiple data points within each of said signals that are transmitted periodically, the multiple data points including a current data point and at least one previous data point, such that where the receiver does not successfully receive the current data point from the transmitter, at a subsequent data transmission, the current data point is again transmitted to the receiver along with a new current data point, and the current data point is thereby received at the receiver and ascertained from the subsequent data transmission without retransmission of the multiple data points to the receiver or being lost.
