1. A method for infusing a fluid into a body from an external infusion device, comprising:
- activating one or more icons displayed on a second module of an external infusion device to select one or more program menus formed by the one or more icons, the external infusion device having a first module, the first module including a first housing, an alarm in the first housing, a reservoir in the first housing to hold fluid, and a pump in the first housing, adapted to pump the fluid from the reservoir, and a second module, the second module being adapted to removably attach to the first module, the second module including a second housing, and a display in the second housing, wherein the second module communicates with the first module to provide a fluid delivery program for the flow of the fluid from the first housing;
programming pump flow commands to be communicated to the first module, wherein the first module dispenses the fluid through a pump in the first module in accordance with the pump flow commands of the second module; and
removing the second module from the first module, wherein the first module continues fluid delivery when not attached to the second module.
