Abstract

An iron golf club head includes: a block that is made by a magnesium alloy; and a metal head main body, wherein the block is embedded into the metal head main body.

Claims

1. An iron golf club head comprising:

a block that is made by a magnesium alloy;

a metal head main body,

a recess that is formed in the metal head main body; and

a metal cover made by a tungsten alloy, wherein;

the block is embedded into the metal head main body;

the block is press-fitted into the recess; and

an opening of the recess is sealed with the metal cover to embed the block into the metal head main body;

wherein the metal head main body has a cavity disposed above the recess at an upper portion of a back of the metal head main body and has a bulge having an essentially semicircular cross-sectional profile disposed at a lower portion of the back of the metal head main body.

2. The iron golf club head according to claim 1, wherein

the metal head main body is made by a metal which is harder than a magnesium alloy and has a greater specific gravity than that of the magnesium alloy.

3. The iron golf club head according to claim 1, wherein the magnesium alloy comprises aluminum and zinc.

4. The iron golf club head according to claim 1, wherein the magnesium alloy is one of AZ31, AZ61 or AZ91.

5. The iron golf club head according to claim 1, wherein the magnesium alloy has a Young'"'"'s modulus of 50 GPa or less, and a specific gravity in the range of 1.8 to 2.0.

6. The iron golf club head according to claim 1, wherein the recess has a depth in the range of 5 and 25 mm, an opening length in the range of 10 to 20 mm in a front-back direction of the club head and an opening length in the range of 20 to 40 mm in a heel toe direction of the club head.

7. The iron golf club head according to claim 1, where the opening of the recess is disposed at a sole of the club head, and a distance between the leading edge of the club head and the metal cover is in the range of 1.5 to 3.0 mm.

8. The iron golf club head according to claim 1, wherein a plurality of tungsten alloy blocks are embedded in a sole of the bulge at a toe side of the recess and at a heel side of the recess.
