1. A remote detector, comprising:

  • a substrate member;

    a reactive material disposed on the substrate, the reactive material selected to change an optical property in the presence of a target agent;

    a camera positioned to receive electro-magnetic radiation from the reactive material and to generate image data that is indicative of the change in the optical property;

    a processor coupled to the camera and configure to receive the image data and generate a processed signal;

    a radio frequency (RF) transmitter coupled to the processor and configured to wirelessly transmit the processed signal to a base station; and

    a radio frequency (RF) receiver configured to receive remote commands from the base station.
