1. A computer implemented method, with an electronic device, for monitoring radio-frequency identification enabled items, the method comprising:

  • executing on an information processing system the following;

    receiving a set of radio frequency IDs representing a set of radio frequency ID enabled items to be monitored;

    receiving a plurality of identifiers respectively representing a plurality of user activity profiles, wherein at least one of the user activity profiles is associated with a plurality of radio frequency IDs in the set of radio frequency IDs, the at least one of the user activity profiles comprising a set of identifiers identifying one or more radio frequency ID readers in a set of radio frequency ID readers to monitor the plurality of radio frequency IDs when the at least one of the user activity profiles is selected;

    determining that the at least one of the user activity profiles has been selected; and

    initiating, in response to the determining, only the one or more radio frequency ID readers to monitor for one or more radio frequency enabled items corresponding to the plurality of radio frequency IDs associated with the at least one of the user activity profiles.
