1. In a conveyor system having a first conveyor part with a surface subjected to wear as the result of sliding frictional contact with a second conveyor part, the improvement comprising:
- a powder coating applied to the surface of the first conveyor part to form a durable outer shell substantially over the entirety of the first conveyor part without a gap between the outer shell and the second conveyor part in which food particles or debris may become trapped, whereby the outer shell serves to reduce friction between the first and second conveyor parts, provides enhanced wear resistance to the first conveyor part by preventing surface contact with the material underlying the outer shell, and improves cleanability of the first conveyor part.
