1. A lancet module comprisinga lancet channel formed within a module body portion;
- a lancet configured to be mechanically registered and coupled to a controllable force lancet driver;
a sample chamber coupled to the lancet channel;
wherein the lancet has a sharpened distal tip, a shaft portion and a drive head, the shaft portion being slidably disposed and free to slide within the lancet channel;
wherein the lancet channel has a proximal end, a distal end, a series of lancet bearing guides configured to fit closely with a shaft of the lancet and confine the lancet to substantially axial movement, the lancet bearing guides includes a proximal lancet bearing guide and a distal lancet guide;
a proximal fracturable seal positioned between a proximal lancet bearing guide and the shaft portion of the lancet that seals the sample; and
a distal fracturable seal disposed between the lancet and the distal lancet guide to seal a distal end of the lancet channel and a sample input port.
