Abstract

The present disclosure relates to substrates associated with nitric oxide.

Claims

1. A nitric oxide releasing system comprising:

one or more light sources;

one or more rare-earth materials configured to upconvert light of at least some of the one or more light sources;

one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors configured to release nitric oxide in response to upconverted light;

one or more sensors configured to detect nitric oxide; and

one or more controllers configured to control at least some of the one or more light sources in response to one or more signals received from at least some of the one or more of sensors.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the one or more light sources comprises:

one or more light sources configured to emit one or more selective wavelengths of light.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the one or more light sources comprises:

one or more light emitting diodes.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the one or more rare-earth materials configured to upconvert light of at least some of the one or more light sources comprises:

one or more rare-earth materials configured to upconvert light of at least some of the one or more light sources to one or more selective wavelengths of light.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein the one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors configured to release nitric oxide in response to upconverted light comprises:

one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors that include one or more diazeniumdiolates configured to release nitric oxide in response to upconverted light.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors configured to release nitric oxide in response to upconverted light comprises:

one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors configured to release nitric oxide in response to light received from at least some of the one or more light sources.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors configured to release nitric oxide in response to upconverted light comprises:

one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors configured to release nitric oxide via photodecomposition in response to upconverted light.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein the one or more sensors configured to detect nitric oxide comprises:

one or more sensors configured to detect nitric oxide of one or more of the photolyzable nitric oxide donors.

9. The system of claim 1, further comprising

one or more sensors configured to detect one or more nitric oxide synthases.

10. The system of claim 1, wherein the one or more controllers configured to control at least some of the one or more light sources in response to one or more signals received from at least some of the one or more of sensors comprises:

one or more controllers configured to control at least some of the one or more light sources in response to one or more signals received from at least some of the one or more of sensors to maintain one or more specified concentrations of nitric oxide.

11. The system of claim 1, wherein the one or more controllers is configured to control one or more remote light sources.

12. The system of claim 1, wherein the one or more controllers is configured to control at least some of the one or more light sources in response to one or more transmitted signals.

13. The system of claim 1, wherein the one or more controllers is configured to control at least some of the one or more light sources in response to one or more user interface instructions.

14. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

one or more substrates.

15. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

one or more impermeable substrates.

16. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

one or more permeable substrates.

17. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

one or more selectively permeable substrates.

18. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

one or more metallic substrates.

19. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

one or more flexible substrates.

20. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

one or more substrates associated with at least one of the one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors, the one or more rare-earth materials, the one or more light sources, the one or more sensors, and the one or more controllers.

21. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

one or more substrates associated with or configured as at least one of one or more sheets, one or more hoods, one or more gloves, one or more body wraps, one or more condoms, one or more penile sleeves, one or more surgical drapes, one or more masks, one or more pants, one or more shirts, one or more underwear, one or more socks, one or more mittens, one or more caps, one or more bags, one or more beds, one or more tables, one or more chambers, and one or more tapes.

22. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

one or more adhesives.

23. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

one or more power supplies.

24. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

one or more solar cells.

25. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

one or more status indicators.

26. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

one or more polymeric materials.

27. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

one or more optical waveguides.

28. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

one or more optically transmitting materials.

29. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

one or more optical fibers.

30. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

one or more electromagnetic receivers.

33. The system of claim 1, wherein at least one of the one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors, the one or more rare-earth materials, the one or more light sources, the one or more sensors, and the one or more controllers are associatable with one or more bandages.

34. The system of claim 1, wherein at least one of the one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors, the one or more rare-earth materials, the one or more light sources, the one or more sensors, and the one or more controllers are associatable with one or more condoms.

35. The system of claim 1, wherein at least one of the one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors, the one or more rare-earth materials, the one or more light sources, the one or more sensors, and the one or more controllers are usable in vivo.

36. A nitric oxide releasing system comprising:

one or more light sources;

one or more fluorescent materials configured to convert light of at least some of the one or more light sources;

one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors configured to release nitric oxide in response to converted light;

one or more sensors configured to detect nitric oxide; and

one or more controllers configured to control at least some of the one or more light sources in response to one or more signals received from at least some of the one or more of sensors.

37. The system of claim 36, wherein the one or more light sources comprises:

one or more light sources configured to emit one or more selective wavelengths of light.

38. The system of claim 36, wherein the one or more light sources comprises:

one or more light emitting diodes.

39. The system of claim 36, wherein the one or more fluorescent materials configured to convert light of at least some of the one or more light sources comprises:

one or more fluorescent materials configured to convert light of at least some of the one or more light sources to one or more selective wavelengths of light.

40. The system of claim 36, wherein the one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors configured to release nitric oxide in response to converted light comprises:

one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors that include one or more diazeniumdiolates configured to release nitric oxide in response to converted light.

41. The system of claim 36, wherein the one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors configured to release nitric oxide in response to converted light comprises:

one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors configured to release nitric oxide in response to light received from at least some of the one or more light sources.

42. The system of claim 36, wherein the one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors configured to release nitric oxide in response to converted light comprises:

one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors configured to release nitric oxide via photodecomposition in response to converted light.

43. The system of claim 36, wherein the one or more sensors configured to detect nitric oxide comprises:

one or more sensors configured to detect nitric oxide of one or more of the photolyzable nitric oxide donors.

44. The system of claim 36, further comprising:

one or more sensors configured to detect one or more nitric oxide synthases.

45. The system of claim 36, wherein the one or more controllers configured to control at least some of the one or more light sources in response to one or more signals received from at least some of the one or more of sensors comprises:

one or more controllers configured to control at least some of the one or more light sources in response to one or more signals received from at least some of the one or more of sensors to maintain one or more specified concentrations of nitric oxide.

46. The system of claim 36, wherein the one or more controllers is configured to control one or more remote light sources.

47. The system of claim 36, wherein the one or more controllers is configured to control at least some of the one or more light sources in response to one or more transmitted signals.

48. The system of claim 36, wherein the one or more controllers is configured to control at least some of the one or more light sources in response to one or more user interface instructions.

49. The system of claim 36, further comprising:

one or more substrates.

one or more substrates associated with or configured as at least one of one or more sheets, one or more hoods, one or more gloves, one or more body wraps, one or more condoms, one or more penile sleeves, one or more surgical drapes, one or more masks, one or more pants, one or more shirts, one or more underwear, one or more socks, one or more mittens, one or more caps, one or more bags, one or more beds, one or more tables, one or more chambers, and one or more tapes.

57. The system of claim 36, further comprising:

one or more adhesives.

69. The system of claim 36, wherein at least one of the one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors, the one or more fluorescent materials, the one or more light sources, the one or more sensors, and the one or more controllers are associatable with one or more condoms.

70. The system of claim 36, wherein at least one of the one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors, the one or more fluorescent materials, the one or more light sources, the one or more sensors, and the one or more controllers are usable in vivo.

71. A nitric oxide releasing system comprising:

one or more light sources;

one or more quantum dots configured to tune light of at least some of the one or more light sources;

one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors configured to release nitric oxide in response to tuned light;

one or more sensors configured to detect nitric oxide; and

one or more controllers configured to control at least some of the one or more light sources in response to one or more signals received from at least some of the one or more of sensors.

72. The system of claim 71, wherein the one or more light sources comprises:

one or more light sources configured to emit one or more selective wavelengths of light.

73. The system of claim 71, wherein the one or more light sources comprises:

one or more light emitting diodes.

74. The system of claim 71, wherein the one or more quantum dots configured to tune light of at least some of the one or more light sources comprises:

one or more quantum dots configured to tune light of at least some of the one or more light sources to one or more selective wavelengths of light.

75. The system of claim 71, wherein the one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors configured to release nitric oxide in response to tuned light comprises:

one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors that include one or more diazeniumdiolates configured to release nitric oxide in response to tuned light.

76. The system of claim 71, wherein the one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors configured to release nitric oxide in response to tuned light comprises:

one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors configured to release nitric oxide in response to light received from at least some of the one or more light sources.

77. The system of claim 71, wherein the one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors configured to release nitric oxide in response to tuned light comprises:

one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors configured to release nitric oxide via photodecomposition in response to tuned light.

78. The system of claim 71, wherein the one or more sensors configured to detect nitric oxide comprises:

one or more sensors configured to detect nitric oxide of one or more of the photolyzable nitric oxide donors.

79. The system of claim 71, further comprising:

one or more sensors configured to detect one or more nitric oxide synthases.

80. The system of claim 71, wherein the one or more controllers configured to control at least some of the one or more light sources in response to one or more signals received from at least some of the one or more of sensors comprises:

one or more controllers configured to control at least some of the one or more light sources in response to one or more signals received from at least some of the one or more of sensors to maintain one or more specified concentrations of nitric oxide.

81. The system of claim 71, wherein the one or more controllers is configured to control one or more remote light sources.

82. The system of claim 71, wherein the one or more controllers is configured to control at least some of the one or more light sources in response to one or more transmitted signals.

83. The system of claim 71, wherein the one or more controllers is configured to control at least some of the one or more light sources in response to one or more user interface instructions.

one or more substrates.

one or more substrates associated with or configured as at least one of one or more sheets, one or more hoods, one or more gloves, one or more body wraps, one or more condoms, one or more penile sleeves, one or more surgical drapes, one or more masks, one or more pants, one or more shirts, one or more underwear, one or more socks, one or more mittens, one or more caps, one or more bags, one or more beds, one or more tables, one or more chambers, and one or more tapes.

105. The system of claim 71, wherein at least one of the one or more photolyzable nitric oxide donors, the one or more quantum dots, the one or more light sources, the one or more sensors, and the one or more controllers are usable in vivo.

106. A nitric oxide releasing system comprising:

means for providing light;

means for at least one of upconverting, converting, and tuning light of the means for providing light;

means for releasing nitric oxide in response to light of the means for at least one of upconverting, converting, and tuning light of the means for providing light;

means for detecting nitric oxide; and

means for controlling the means for providing light in response to the means for detecting nitric oxide.
