1. An expandable medical device comprising:

  • a cylindrical tube, with a network of struts therein, said network allowing the cylindrical tube to be expanded or compressed from a first diameter to a second diameter;

    a plurality of openings in the struts, said openings extending though a thickness of said struts, so as to define a plurality of through-openings therein, said through-openings formed in at least two different shapes, said through-openings being non-deforming;

    a beneficial agent loaded within the plurality of openings; and

    wherein the network of struts are substantially rigid struts interconnected by deformable struts; and

    wherein the substantially rigid struts experience substantially no plastic deformation during expansion or compression from the first diameter to the second diameter; and

    wherein said beneficial agent defines a first beneficial agent, and further comprising a surface coating of a second beneficial agent different from said first beneficial agent on said expandable medical device; and

    wherein the plurality of openings are formed in the substantially rigid struts, and the deformable struts are devoid of any openings.
