1. A vehicle control apparatus comprising:
- a vehicle state quantity detection unit for detecting a vehicle state quantity;
a lateral jerk calculation unit for calculating a lateral jerk of a vehicle in a lateral vehicle direction based on said vehicle state quantity, said lateral jerk calculation unit estimating said lateral jerk using a transfer function having, as input, a roll angular velocity of the vehicle and, as output, an estimated lateral jerk; and
a control unit for carrying out vehicle control so as to start a vehicle acceleration or deceleration in an anterior-posterior longitudinal direction of the vehicle, end the vehicle acceleration or deceleration in said anterior-posterior longitudinal direction of the vehicle, or make the vehicle acceleration in said anterior-posterior longitudinal direction of the vehicle constant when a value of said estimated lateral jerk is near zero.
