Abstract

A system and method links one or more disparate community awareness management (CAM) datasets for a community awareness program (CAP) with one or more spatial layers to create linked CAM datasets. One or more data attributes common to a CAM dataset and a spatial layer are identified, and the link is defined between the CAM dataset and the spatial layer. The spatial layer and the linked CAM dataset then may be queried using a single input query. Features from the spatial layer and features from the linked CAM dataset that match the query are generated for display. In one embodiment, a system and method manage CAP assets, transactions, interest areas for the CAP, and buffer areas for the CAP. An audience utility enables entering and maintaining audience data for the CAP. A journal utility enables making journal entries for one or more audience members, CAP assets, transactions, and/or other CAM data. A link document utility enables linking one or more documents to CAM data.

Claims

1. A system for managing community awareness management (CAM) data for a community awareness program (CAP), the CAP providing information associated with at least one CAP asset for the CAP to at least one audience member of the CAP, the system comprising:

at least one processor;

a data management system executing on the at least one processor comprising;

the feature data comprising CAP asset data for the at least one CAP asset and audience data for the at least one audience member of the CAP to which at least some of the information associated with the at least one CAP asset is provided; and

geospatial data for an area for the CAP;

a spatial management system executing on the at least one processor, generating at least one query for the feature data and the geospatial data to the data management system, receiving selected feature data and selected geospatial data from the data management system in response to the at least one query, and generating map data based on the selected geospatial data and at least some selected feature data, the map data identifying at least a portion of the area for the CAP, the at least one audience member within the CAP area portion to which the at least some information associated with the at least one CAP asset is provided, and at least one member of a group consisting of at least one CAP asset portion within the CAP area potion, at least an interest area portion for the at least one CAP asset within the CAP area portion, and at least a buffer area portion for the at least one CAP asset within the CAP area portion;

a program management system executing on the at least one processor, receiving an input, initiating the at least one query to the spatial management system based on the input, receiving the map data and the selected feature data from the spatial management system, and generating at least one result of the query, the at least one result comprising the map data and the selected feature data, the selected feature data comprising at least one second member of a second group consisting of at least some of the CAP asset data for the at least one CAP asset and at least some of the audience data for the at least one audience member to which the at least some information associated with the at least one CAP asset is provided; and

a user interface to;

receive the input;

transfer the input to the program management system;

receive the at least one result from the program management system; and

generate display elements corresponding to the at least one result, the display elements comprising;

a map image comprising;

the CAP area portion;

in the CAP area portion, the at least one member of the group consisting of the at least the interest area portion for the at least one CAP asset, and the buffer area portion for the at least one CAP asset; and

in the CAP area portion, at least one point feature indicating a location of at the least one audience member for the CAP; and

a feature display frame to display the selected feature data.

2. The system of claim 1 wherein:

the feature data further comprises pipeline data;

the CAP asset comprises a pipeline asset, the buffer area portion comprises a pipeline buffer area portion, and the interest area portion comprises a pipeline interest area portion; and

the user interface further is configured to generate the selected feature data comprising at least one third member of a third group consisting of at least some pipeline data and the at least some audience data.

3. The system of claim 1 wherein:

the CAP asset comprises at least one third member of a third group consisting of a utility asset and a call center asset;

the interest area portion comprises at least one fourth member of a fourth group consisting of a utility interest area portion and a call center interest area portion;

the buffer area portion comprises at least one fifth member of a fifth group consisting of a utility buffer area portion and a call center buffer area portion; and

the user interface further is configured to generate the selected feature data comprising at least one sixth member of a sixth group consisting of utility data and call center data.

The system of claim 1 wherein the selected feature data comprises at least one third member of a third group consisting of buffer area data for the at least one CAP asset, interest area data for the at least one CAP asset, location data for the at least one CAP asset, other location data for the at least one audience members, journal data for the at least one CAP asset, other journal data for the at least one audience member, document data for the at least one CAP asset, other document data for the at least one audience member, audit data for the at least one CAP asset, and other audit data for the at least one audience member.

5. The system of claim 1 wherein the user interface is configured to generate a link document utility configured to enable linking document data to at least one third member of a third group consisting of the at least one CAP asset and the at least one audience member.

6. The system of claim 1 wherein the user interface is configured to enable entry of journal data for at least one third member of a third group consisting of the at least one CAP asset and the at least one audience member.

7. The system of claim 1 wherein the user interface is configured to enable entry of other audience data for at least one third member of a third group consisting of the at least one CAP asset, the at least one audience member, and at least one other audience member.

8. The system of claim 1 wherein the user interface further is configured to generate for display document data identifying at least one document associated with at least one third member of a third group consisting of the at least one audience member and the at least one CAP asset.

9. The system of claim 1 wherein the user interface further is configured to generate for display at least one journal entry for at least one third member of a third group consisting of the at least one CAP asset and the at least one audience member.

10. The system of claim 1 wherein the map image comprises the at least the interest area portion, the user interface further is configured to generate a plurality of point features within the CAP area portion, each point feature indicating another location of at least one other audience member, and at least one of the plurality of point features is displayed within the interest area portion.

11. A system for managing community awareness management (CAM) data for a community awareness program (CAP), the CAP providing information associated with at least one CAP asset for the CAP to a plurality of audience members of the CAP, the system comprising:

at least one processor;

a data management system executing on the at least one processor comprising;

feature data comprising CAP asset data for the at least one CAP asset and audience data for the plurality of audience members of the CAP to which at least some of the information associated with the at least one CAP asset is provided; and

geospatial data for an area for the CAP;

a spatial management system executing on the at least one processor, generating at least one query for the feature data and the geospatial data to the data management system, receiving selected feature data and selected geospatial data from the data management system in response to the at least one query, and generating map data based on the selected geospatial data and at least some selected feature data, the map data identifying at least a portion of the area for the CAP, the plurality of audience members within the CAP area portion to which the at least some information associated with the at least one CAP asset is provided, and at least one member of a group consisting of at least one CAP asset portion within the CAP area potion, at least an interest area portion for the at least one CAP asset within the CAP area portion, and at least a buffer area portion for the at least one CAP asset within the CAP area portion;

a program management system executing on the at least one processor, receiving an input, initiating the at least one query to the spatial management system based on the input, receiving the map data and the selected feature data from the spatial management system, and generating at least one result of the query, the at least one result comprising the map data and the selected feature data, the selected feature data comprising at least one second member of a second group consisting of at least some of the CAP asset data for the at least one CAP asset and at least some of the audience data for the audience members to which the at least some information associated with the at least one CAP asset is provided; and

a user interface to;

receive the input;

transfer the input to the program management system;

receive the at least one result from the program management system; and

generate display elements corresponding to the at least result, the display elements comprising;

a map image comprising;

the CAP area portion;

in the CAP area portion, at least one CAP asset portion and at least one other area portion selected from the interest area portion for the at least one CAP asset and the buffer area portion for the at least one CAP asset; and

a plurality of point features in the CAP area portion and displayed relative to the other area portion with at least one point feature within the other area portion, the plurality of point features indicating locations of at least some of the plurality of audience members of the CAP to which at least some information associated with the at least one CAP asset is provided; and

a feature display frame to display the selected feature data.

12. The system of claim 11 wherein the user interface is configured to enable entry of some other audience data for at least one third member of a third group consisting of the at least one CAP asset, at least one of the plurality of audience members, and at least one new audience member.

13. The system of claim 12 wherein the user interface is configured to enable editing the some audience data for at least one third member of third group consisting of the at least one CAP asset, the at least one of the plurality of audience members, and the at least one new audience member.

14. The system of claim 11 wherein the user interface is configured to enable entry of journal data for at least one third member of a third group consisting of the at least one CAP asset and at least one of the audience members.

15. The system of claim 11 wherein the feature data further comprises journal data, the selected feature data comprises selected journal data for at least one journal entry, and the user interface further is configured to generate the selected journal data for the at least one journal entry in the feature display frame.

16. The system of claim 11 wherein the input comprises at least one third member of a third group consisting of an address, a street, an intersection, a county, a zip code, a city, a state, a region, a location code, a SIC code, and a FIPS code.

17. The system of claim 11 wherein the input comprises at least one third member of a third group consisting of an audience type, a journal entry type, a company name, a phone number, and a contact name.

18. The system of claim 11 wherein the user interface further is configured to generate another map image with another portion of the area for the CAP and to accept a selection of the other map image as the input.

19. A method for managing community awareness management (CAM) data comprising:

storing, in a database, feature data for a community awareness program (CAP) and geospatial data for an area for the CAP, the feature data comprising audience data for at least one audience member of the CAP and CAP asset data;

receiving an input at a user interface and transmitting the input to a program management system operating on at least one processor;

transmitting the input from the program management system to a spatial management system operating on the at least one processor or at least one other processor;

generating at least one query for the feature data and the geospatial data from the spatial management system on the at least one processor to the database based on the input;

receiving selected feature data and selected geospatial data from the database at the spatial management system in response to the at least one query;

generating map data at the spatial management system based on the selected geospatial data and at least some selected feature data, the map data identifying at least a portion of the area for the CAP, the at least one audience member within the CAP area portion to which the at least some information associated with the at least one CAP asset is provided, and at least one member of a group consisting of at least one CAP asset portion within the CAP area potion, at least an interest area portion for the at least one CAP asset within the CAP area portion, and at least a buffer area portion for the at least one CAP asset within the CAP area portion;

generating at least one result of the query at the program management system, the at least one result comprising the map data and the selected feature data, the selected feature data comprising at least one second member of a second group consisting of at least some of the CAP asset data for the at least one CAP asset and at least some of the audience data for the at least one audience member to which the at least some information associated with the at least one CAP asset is provided; and

generating display elements at the user interface, the display elements comprising;

a map image comprising;

the CAP area portion;

in the CAP area portion, the at least one member of the group consisting of the at least one CAP asset portion, the interest area portion for the at least one CAP asset, and the buffer area portion for the at least one CAP asset; and

in the CAP area portion, at least one point feature indicating a location of the at least one audience member for the CAP; and

a feature display frame to display the selected feature data.

20. The method of claim 19 wherein:

the feature data further comprises pipeline data;

the CAP asset comprises a pipeline asset;

the buffer area portion comprises a pipeline buffer area portion;

the interest area portion comprises a pipeline interest area portion; and

the method further comprises generating at the user interface selected feature data comprising at least one third member of a third group consisting of at least some pipeline data and the at least some audience data.

21. The method of claim 19 wherein:

the CAP asset comprises at least one third member of a third group consisting of a utility asset and a call center asset;

the interest area portion comprises at least one fourth member of a fourth group consisting of a utility interest area portion and a call center interest area portion;

the buffer area portion comprises at least one fifth member of a fifth group consisting of a utility buffer area portion and a call center buffer area portion; and

the method further comprises generating at the user interface selected feature data comprising at least one sixth member of a sixth group consisting of utility data and call center data.

The method of claim 19 wherein the selected feature data comprises at least one third member of a third group consisting of buffer area data for the at least one CAP asset, interest area data for the at least one CAP asset, location data for the at least one CAP asset, other location data for the at least one audience member, journal data for the at least one CAP asset, other journal data for the at least one audience member, document data for the at least one CAP asset, other document data for the at least one audience member, audit data for the at least one CAP asset, and other audit data for the at least one audience member.

23. The method of claim 19 further comprising:

generating a link document utility at the user interface, the link document utility enabling linking document data to at least one third member of a third group consisting of the at least one CAP asset and the at least one audience member.

24. The method of claim 19 further comprising:

enabling entry of journal data at the user interface for at least one third member of a third group consisting of the at least one CAP asset and the at least one audience member.

25. The method of claim 19 further comprising:

enabling entry of other audience data at the user interface for at least one third member of a third group consisting of the at least one CAP asset, the at least one audience member, and at least one other audience member.

26. The method of claim 19 further comprising:

generating for display at the user interface document data identifying at least one document associated with at least one third member of a third group consisting of the at least one audience member and the at least one CAP asset.

27. The method of claim 19 further comprising:

generating for display at the user interface at least one journal entry for at least one third member of a third group consisting of the at least one CAP asset and the at least one audience member.

28. The method of claim 19 wherein:

the map image comprises the interest area portion; and

the method further comprises generating a plurality of point features within the CAP area portion at the user interface, each point feature indicating another location of at least one other audience member, and at least one of the plurality of point features displayed within the interest area portion.

29. A method for managing community awareness management (CAM) data comprising:

storing, in a database, feature data for a community awareness program (CAP) and geospatial data for an area for the CAP, the feature data comprising audience data for a plurality of audience members of the CAP and CAP asset data for at least one CAP asset, the CAP providing information associated with the at least one CAP asset for the CAP to the plurality of audience members of the CAP;

receiving an input at a user interface;

at at least one processor, generating at least one query for the feature data and the geospatial data to the database based on the input;

receiving selected feature data and selected geospatial data from the database in response to the at least one query;

generating map data at the at least one processor based on the selected geospatial data and at least some selected feature data, the map data identifying at least a portion of the area for the CAP, at least some of the plurality of audience members within the CAP area portion to which the at least some information associated with the at least one CAP asset is provided, and at least one member of a group consisting of at least one CAP asset portion within the CAP area potion, at least an interest area portion for the at least one CAP asset within the CAP area portion, and at least a buffer area portion for the at least one CAP asset within the CAP area portion

generating at least one result of the query at the at least one processor or at least one other processor, the at least one result comprising the map data and the selected feature data, the selected feature data comprising at least one second member of a second group consisting of at least some of the CAP asset data for the at least one CAP asset and at least some of the audience data for the at least some of the plurality of audience members to which the at least some information associated with the at least one CAP asset is provided;

generating display elements at the user interface, the display elements comprising;

a map image comprising;

the CAP area portion;

in the CAP area portion, at least one CAP asset portion and at least one other area portion selected from the interest area portion for the at least one CAP asset and the buffer area portion for the at least one CAP asset; and

a plurality of point features in the CAP area portion and displayed relative to the other area portion with at least one point feature within the other area portion, the plurality of point features indicating locations of the at least some of the plurality of audience members of the CAP to which at least some information associated with the at least one CAP asset is provided; and

a feature display frame to display the selected feature data.

30. The method of claim 29 further comprising:

enabling entry of some other audience data at the user interface for at least one third member of a third group consisting of the at least one CAP asset, at least one of the plurality of audience members, and at least one new audience member.

31. The method of claim 30 further comprising:

enabling editing of the some other audience data at the user interface for at least one third member of a third group consisting of the at least one CAP asset, the at least one of the plurality of audience members, and the at least one new audience member.

32. The method of claim 29 further comprising:

enabling entry of journal data at the user interface for at least one third member of a third group consisting of the at least one CAP asset and at least one of the audience members.

33. The method of claim 29 wherein:

the feature data further comprises journal data;

the selected feature data comprises selected journal data for at least one journal entry; and

the method further comprises generating the selected journal data at the user interface for the at least one journal entry in the feature display frame.

34. The method of claim 29 wherein the input comprises at least one third member of a third group consisting of an address, a street, an intersection, a county, a zip code, a city, a state, a region, a location code, a SIC code, and a FIPS code.

35. The method of claim 29 wherein the input comprises at least one third member of a third group consisting of an audience type, a journal entry type, a company name, a phone number, and a contact name.

36. The method of claim 29 further comprising:

generating another map image at the user interface with another portion of the area for the CAP; and

accepting at the user interface a selection of a location on the other map image as the input.
