User interface for backup management
First Claim
1. A computer program product tangibly embodied in a computer readable storage medium, the computer program product including instructions that, when executed, generate on a display device a graphical user interface, the graphical user interface comprising:
- a view display area for presenting a current view, where the current view provides a representation of a window in a current state, where the window is distinct from the graphical user interface;
a prior state display area for presenting a prior state of the current view including one or more representations of the window as it existed at times in the past, the prior state of the current view including one or more first representations of the window, where each first representation shows a past state of the window; and
an input control for initiating a restoration of the window associated with the current view to a state associated with one of the first representations.

Abstract
Systems and methods for providing a user interface including earlier versions of data. In one implementation, computer program product is provided. The computer program product generates a user interface. The user interface includes a view display area for presenting a current view and a history view display area for presenting a history view associated with the current view. The history view includes one or more first visual representations of corresponding earlier versions of the current view. The user interface also includes an input control for initiating a restoration of the current view according to at least a portion of an earlier version of the one or more earlier versions.

25. A method relating to modifying a view in a user interface, the method comprising:
-
receiving, while a current view including a representation of a window in a current state is displayed in a view display area in the user interface that is distinct from the window, a first user input requesting that a prior state of the current view including one or more representations of the window as it existed at times in the past be displayed; displaying the prior state of the current view in a prior state display area in response to the first user input, the prior state of the current view including at least a first representation of the window, each first representation showing a past state of the window, where the first representation includes a first element from the past state; receiving, while the prior state of the current view is displayed, a second user input requesting that the window associated with the current view be modified according to a state associated with one of the first representations, at least with regard to the first element; and modifying, in response to the second user input, the window according to the state associated with one of the first representations, at least with regard to the first element.

26. A method comprising:
-
defining criteria for capturing a state of a view of a user interface, where the view of the user interface includes a representation of a window; capturing the state of the view in accordance with the criteria; receiving a prompt to suspend presentation of a current view including a representation of the window in a current state and to present a captured view of the user interface, the captured view including a first representation of the window as it existed at times in the past, where the first representation shows a past state of the window; presenting the captured view in a prior state interface, the prior state interface being distinct from the user interface and including; a view display area for presenting the current view, and a prior state display area for presenting the captured view; and reinstating the user interface associated with the current view to a state associated with the first representation.

27. A computer program product tangibly embodied in a computer readable storage medium, the computer program product including instructions that, when executed, generate on a display device a graphical user interface, the graphical user interface comprising:
-
a display area for presenting a representation of a current state of a window and for presenting one or more snapshots of the window, where the window is distinct from the graphical user interface and the one or more snapshots each include a representation of the window as it existed at times in the past, each representation showing a past state of the window, and where the one or more snapshots are arranged in a stack; a first input control for navigating through the one or more snapshots; and a second input control for initiating a restoration of the window associated with the current state to a state associated with a first snapshot currently presented in the display area.
