1. A method for inspecting an object, comprising the steps of:
- a positioning a radiation source at a first angle relative to said object, aligning a detector with said radiation source based upon said first angle, emitting radiation from said radiation source to create a first inspection region, moving said first inspection region past said object, positioning the radiation source at a second angle relative to said object, aligning the detector with said radiation source based upon said second angle, emitting radiation from said radiation source to create a second inspection region, and moving said second inspection region past said object, wherein said first inspection region is different from the second inspection region.

Abstract
The present invention is a cargo inspection system, employing a radiation source, capable of scanning vehicles and/or cargo in a wide range of sizes, including conventional imaging areas as well as taller and bulkier enclosures at sufficiently optimal efficacy and overall throughput. In one embodiment, the present invention is a multiple pass inspection method for inspecting vehicles and their cargo, comprising a first pass scan, wherein said first pass scan includes moving a radiation source at a suitable scanning distance, rotating a radiation source at a suitable scanning angle, and moving said radiation source along an object under inspection.

13. An inspection system for inspecting vehicles and cargo, wherein said inspection system comprises:
-
a rotatable radiation source attached to a movable gantry, wherein said gantry pivots in a vertical direction and wherein, upon said gantry pivoting in a vertical direction, the radiation source rotates within a range of 0 to 90 degrees; and a detector array, wherein said detector array pivots around an axis to remain in continual alignment with said radiation source upon the movement of said radiation source. - View Dependent Claims (14, 15, 16, 17, 18)
