1. A surgical device comprising:
- an elongated shaft having a distal end and a proximal end;
a first arm pivotally connected to said distal end and moveable through a dissection plane; and
an electrically-activated cutting element disposed on said first arm and adapted to move from an un-deployed configuration to a deployed configuration, said cutting element including a cutting tip, wherein said cutting tip is generally parallel with said dissection plane and said cutting tip is received within a recess in said first arm when said cutting element is in said un-deployed configuration, and wherein said cutting tip extends generally perpendicularly outward from said dissection plane when said cutting element is in said deployed configuration.
