1. A method of diabetes management, comprising:
- (a) providing a communications unit remotely located from and in communication with a portable microprocessor-based unit;
(b) advising a user to measure a blood glucose level by transmitting blood glucose level data into the portable microprocessor-based unit or the communications unit, or both;
(c) running a program of instructions on the portable microprocessor-based unit or on the communications unit, or both, using data corresponding to the blood glucose level data, wherein said portable microprocessor-based unit comprises a multi-line display configured to present to said user (i) graphs of said blood glucose level data and (ii) a game-like presentation; and
(d) advising said user to inject insulin according to an insulin plan;
(e) presenting to said user (a) said blood glucose level data and (b) information to educate said user regarding management of diabetes;
(f) receiving from said user responses confirming said blood glucose level has been measured; and
(g) positively reinforcing compliance with a diabetes management plan by providing bonuses in said game-like presentation on said multi-line display in response to said blood glucose level being within an optimal range.

8. One or more processor-readable storage devices having program code embodied therein for programming one or more processors to perform a method of diabetes management using a system including a communications unit remotely located from and in communication with a hand-held microprocessor-based unit, wherein the method comprises:
-
(a) advising a user to measure a glucose level; (b) providing blood glucose level data based on the measured glucose level into the hand-held microprocessor-based unit; (c) running a program of instructions on the hand-held microprocessor-based unit or on the communications unit, or both, using data corresponding to the blood glucose level data, wherein said hand-held microprocessor-based unit comprises a multi-line display configured to present to said user (i) graphs of said blood glucose level data and (ii) a game-like presentation; and (d) advising said user to inject insulin according to an insulin plan; (e) presenting to said user (a) said blood glucose level data and (b) information to educate said user regarding management of diabetes; (f) receiving from said user responses confirming said glucose level has been measured; and (g) positively reinforcing compliance with a diabetes management plan by providing bonuses in said game-like presentation on said multi-line display in response to said glucose level being within an optimal range. - View Dependent Claims (9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14)
