1. A probe array cartridge transport assembly apparatus comprising:

  • a cartridge magazine, having an open top and an open bottom, capable of holding one or more probe array cartridges, wherein each probe array cartridge comprises at least one barcode, a planar substrate and an array of biological molecules covalently bound to a surface of the substrate;

    a cartridge transport assembly comprising a cartridge holder, wherein the cartridge holder comprises at least one motor and a pitch and roll mechanism, and wherein the cartridge transport assembly is capable of transporting a probe array cartridge from the cartridge magazine to a scanner and back to the cartridge magazine and is further capable of advancing the cartridge magazine by one or more positions to a second probe array cartridge;

    a barcode reader; and

    a scanner.
