1. A head end system, comprising:
- an input configured to receive interactive communication from one or more clients, a message generator to generate a message, the message including a message identifier (message id) field having a unique identifying number to identify the message, a message type field that identifies the type of message, and a message payload field, wherein when the message comprises an alert message, the type of alert message is based on the type of alert and themessage payload field uniquely identifies the alert message in response to at least one of the received alerts;
an output configured to broadcast the message to a set of recipients including the one or more clients; and
wherein when the message comprises an alert message, the payload field is used by the set of recipients to determine whether the alert message is a new message.
