1. An electrode comprising a plurality of peptide nanostructures, said peptide nanostructures being composed of a plurality of peptides self-assembled into said peptide nano structures, the electrode being capable of conducting a response current resulting from an electrochemical reaction in a proximity thereof, wherein each of said peptides in said plurality of peptides comprises at least one aromatic amino acid residue;

  • and wherein at least one peptide in said plurality of peptides consists essentially of aromatic amino acid residues.
