1. A cardiac lead comprising:

  • a lead body extending from a proximal end portion to a distal end portion;

    a cardiac electrode disposed along the lead body; and

    a coating in contact with at least a portion of the electrode, the coating including a matrix polymer layer and a topcoat layer over the matrix layer,where in the matrix polymer layer comprises at least one of sulfonated polytetrafluorethylene, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) poly(styrenesulfonate) or polypyrrole polystyrene sulfonate and the topcoat layer comprises phosphorylcholine (PC), polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), hyaluronic acid (HA), polyactive or a combination thereof.
