1. A method for controlling an automotive vehicle comprising:

  • generating a plurality of wheel speed signals including a first wheel speed signal;

    generating a vehicle velocity signal;

    determining a slip ratio in response to the wheel speed signal and the vehicle velocity signal;

    determining a slip power in response to the slip ratio, when the slip power is positive;

    generating a wheel lift signal based on the slip power; and

    controlling a safety system in response to the wheel lift signal.
