1. A system for providing rapid access to data, comprising:

  • one or more storage devices connected through one or more electrical paths to a processor;

    a software component that is configured to operate in a primary operating environment and to execute on a host system by the processor and to collect user data when an application program is executing on the host system and store the user data in a storage device from the one or more storage devices; and

    a browser that is configured to operate in a second operating environment and to read the user data stored in the storage device while the host system is in an off state or hibernation state, and while the storage device is connected to the one or more electrical paths, wherein the browser is configured to provide access to the user data in hypertext markup language (HTML) format that includes personal information manager (PIM) data when operating in the second operating environment which is different than the primary operating environment, wherein the browser is configured to provide access to the user data in hypertext markup language (HTML) format that includes personal information manager (PIM) data when operating in the second operating environment which is different than the primary operating environment.
