1. A transponder-reader transaction system comprising:
- a reader configured to communicate with a transponder;
a hand geometry scan sensor configured to detect proffered hand geometry scan sample data, said hand geometry scan sensor configured to communicate with said transaction system, wherein said proffered hand geometry scan sample data is configured to be verified to facilitate a transaction; and
wherein said transaction system is configured to determine whether a transaction exceeds a preloaded value defined by a preloaded value data file associated with said transponder, determine whether said transaction exceeds a combination of said preloaded value and a reload value defined by a reload protocol data file associated with said transponder, notify a user to proffer said proffered hand geometry scan sample data to authorize use of said combination of said preloaded value and said reload value to complete said transaction, and authorize said transaction to proceed by applying said preloaded value from a first funding source associated with said transponder and applying a portion of said reload value from one of said first funding source and a second funding source according to said reload protocol data file.

Abstract
The present invention discloses a system and methods for biometric security using hand geometry recognition biometrics in a transponder-reader system. The biometric security system also includes a hand geometry scan sensor that detects biometric samples and a device for verifying biometric samples. In one embodiment, the biometric security system includes a transponder configured with a hand geometry scan sensor. In another embodiment, the system includes a reader configured with a hand geometry scan sensor. In yet another embodiment, the present invention discloses methods for proffering and processing hand geometry scan samples to facilitate authorization of transactions.

24. A method comprising:
-
determining that a transaction exceeds a preloaded value defined by a preloaded value data file associated with a transponder; determining that said transaction exceeds a combination of said preloaded value and a reload value defined by a reload protocol data file associated with said transponder, wherein said preloaded value data file and said reload protocol data file define predetermined values for use in satisfying a user transaction request; notifying a user to proffer a hand geometry scan sample to authorize use of said combination of said preloaded value and said reload value to complete said transaction; verifying proffered hand geometry scan sample data, wherein said proffered hand geometry scan sample data is detected at a hand geometry scan sensor communicating with a transponder-reader transaction system; and authorizing said transaction to proceed by applying said preloaded value from a first funding source associated with said transponder, wherein a portion of said reload value is applied from at least one of said first funding source or a second funding source according to said reload protocol data file. - View Dependent Claims (25, 26)

27. A method comprising:
-
determining that a transaction exceeds a preloaded value defined by a preloaded value data file associated with a transponder; determining that said transaction exceeds a combination of said preloaded value and a reload value defined by a reload protocol data file associated with said transponder, wherein said preloaded value data file and said reload protocol data file define predetermined values for use in satisfying a user transaction request; authorizing said transaction to proceed in response to verification of proffered hand geometry scan sample data by applying said preloaded value from a first funding source associated with said transponder, wherein said proffered hand geometry scan sample data is detected at a sensor communicating with a transaction system, and wherein said proffered hand geometry scan sample data facilitates authorization of said combination of said preloaded value and said reload value to complete said transaction; and applying a portion of said reload value from at least one of said first funding source or a second funding source according to said reload protocol data file. - View Dependent Claims (28, 29)
