Abstract

A digital broadcasting system and a data processing method are disclosed. The method includes receiving a data processing method includes receiving a broadcast signal in which main service data and mobile service data are multiplexed, acquiring transmission-parameter-channel signaling information including transmission parameter information of the mobile service data, and fast-information-channel signaling information, acquiring binding information describing a relationship between at least one ensemble transferring the mobile service data and a first virtual channel contained in the at least one ensemble by decoding the fast-information-channel, and acquiring status information of the first virtual channel, displaying content data contained in the mobile service data according to the binding information and the status information of the first virtual channel.

Claims

1. A data processing method for a receiving system, the method comprising:

receiving a broadcast signal including a fast information channel (FIC) and a transmission parameter channel (TPC), wherein the FIC includes binding information between a mobile service and an ensemble and status information of the mobile service, and wherein the TPC includes FIC version information for identifying updates of the FIC; and

identifying whether the mobile service is active or inactive, and whether the mobile service is hidden or not based upon the status information of the mobile service,

wherein the status information of the mobile service is assigned with 2 bits, and one bit of the 2 bits indicates whether the mobile service is active or inactive and the other bit of the 2 bits indicates whether the mobile service is hidden or not.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the FIC includes a plurality of FIC segments, and wherein each of the plurality of FIC segments includes a 2-byte header including FIC type information and a 35-byte payload including the binding information.

3. The method according to claim 2, wherein a payload of at least one of the plurality of FIC segments further includes the status information of the mobile service.

4. The method according to claim 2, wherein a payload of at least one of the plurality of FIC segments further includes an ensemble identifier that identifies the ensemble.

5. The method according to claim 1, further comprising:

receiving and demodulating a broadcast signal comprising mobile service data for the mobile service when the status information indicates that the mobile service is set to active;

building a Reed-Solomon (RS) frame including the mobile service data in the demodulated broadcast signal; and

performing error correction decoding on the RS frame, wherein the RS frame belongs to the ensemble.

6. The method according to claim 5, further comprising:

acquiring a service map table (SMT) including access information of the mobile service from the RS frame; and

accessing to the mobile service data from the RS frame using the access information of the mobile service.

7. The method according to claim 6, wherein the access information of the mobile service comprises IP address information required for obtaining IP datagrams of the mobile service data.

8. The method according to claim 5, further comprising:

detecting known data from the broadcast signal comprising the mobile service data; and

channel-equalizing the demodulated broadcast signal using the detected known data.

9. The method according to claim 5, wherein the mobile service is capable of being skipped when the status information indicates that the mobile service is inactive or hidden.

10. A receiving system, comprising:

a first processing unit receiving a broadcast signal including a fast information channel (FIC) and a transmission parameter channel (TPC), wherein the FIC includes binding information between a mobile service and an ensemble and status information of the mobile service, and wherein the TPC includes FIC version information for identifying updates of the FIC; and

a second processing unit identifying whether the mobile service is active or inactive, and whether the mobile service is hidden or not based upon the status information of the mobile service,

wherein the status information of the mobile service is assigned with 2 bits, and wherein one bit of the 2 bits indicates whether the mobile service is active or inactive and the other bit of the 2 bits indicates whether the mobile service is hidden or not.

11. The receiving system according to claim 10, wherein the FIC includes a plurality of FIC segments, and wherein each of the plurality of FIC segments includes a 2-byte header including FIC type information and a 35-byte payload including the binding information.

12. The receiving system according to claim 11, wherein a payload of at least one of the plurality of FIC segments further includes status information of the mobile service.

13. The receiving system according to claim 11, wherein a payload of at least one of the plurality of FIC segments further includes an ensemble identifier that identifies the ensemble.

14. The receiving system according to claim 10, wherein the first processing unit receives and demodulates a broadcast signal comprising mobile service data for the mobile service when the status information indicates that the mobile service is set to active, builds a Reed-Solomon (RS) frame including the mobile service data in the demodulated broadcast signal, and performs error correction decoding on the RS frame, wherein the RS frame belongs to the ensemble.

15. The receiving system according to claim 14, wherein the second processing unit acquires a service map table (SMT) including access information of the mobile service from the RS frame, and accesses to the mobile service data from the RS frame using the access information of the mobile service.

16. The receiving system according to claim 15, wherein the access information of the mobile service comprises IP address information required for obtaining IP datagrams of the mobile service data.

17. The receiving system according to claim 14, wherein the first processing unit further comprises:

a known sequence detector detecting known data from the broadcast signal comprising the mobile service data; and

an equalizer channel-equalizing the demodulated broadcast signal using the detected known data.

18. The receiving system according to claim 14, wherein the mobile service is capable of being skipped when the status information indicates that the mobile service is inactive or hidden.
