1. A process for applying an antireflective coating to a substrate comprising the steps of:

  • a) applying a first coating to the substrate, said first coating being a radical cross-linkable hard coat consisting essentially of an acrylate-based diluent,b) partially cross-linking the first coating to achieve a percent relative reacted acrylate unsaturation (% Relative RAU) of less than about 90%,c) providing a second coating, said second coating being cross-linkable and being carried in a solvent capable of partially swelling the first coating,d) applying the second coating and solvent to the partially cross-linked first coating, ande) cross-linking the second coating.
