1. A system for generating a dialed number identifier, comprising:

  • an interface to receive an incoming call to an originally dialed number via a network;

    a call data store for receiving captured call data related to the incoming call;

    a pool of available non-assigned dialed number identification service (DNIS) numbers;

    anda routing engine to temporarily assign an available non-assigned DNIS number to the incoming call and direct the incoming call to its destination according to the captured call data, and to lock the temporarily assigned DNIS number;

    wherein the pool of available non-assigned DNIS numbers is updated when the temporarily assigned DNIS number is released at termination of the incoming call and the released temporarily assigned DNIS number is made available to another incoming call from the pool of available non-assigned DNIS numbers.
