1. A method for synchronizing data transmissions in a wireless communications network, comprising the steps of:

  • receiving forward link data at a central access unit in the wireless communications network;

    forwarding the forward link data from the central access unit to a plurality of transceivers in the wireless communications network in a single transmission, wherein the forward link data is temporarily stored at each transceiver of the plurality of transceivers, and a first transceiver of the plurality of transceivers forwards the temporarily stored forward link data to a mobile station;

    transmitting a transceiver addition request message from the central access unit to a second transceiver, the second transceiver being a transceiver different from the plurality of transceivers; and

    responsive to the transceiver addition request message, including the second transceiver in the plurality of transceivers;

    forwarding the forward link data from the central access unit to the second transceiver in the plurality of transceivers;

    wherein the mobile station transmits a transceiver selection message on a reverse link to the second transceiver in the plurality of transceivers, and selects the second transceiver in the plurality of transceivers for forwarding the temporarily stored forward link data.
