1. A system for locating a tagged object comprising:
- at least one transmitter configured to transmit an interrogation signal associated with a defined interrogation zone and a specific tag;
the specific tag including an interrogation signal receiving structure and a response generator configured to generate a coded response signal in response to the interrogation signal, wherein only the specific tag is configured to respond to the interrogation signal, wherein the specific tag includes a memory configured to store a set of locations and a comparator configured to compare the interrogation signal to each of the set of locations; and
at least one receiver for detecting the response signal.

Abstract
Methods and apparatus are disclosed for location of objects to facilitate retrieval, filing, security, inventory stock-keeping and the like. The methods and apparatus employ a tag element associated with each object-to-be-located, an interrogation system for searching one or more spatial regions for such tagged items, as well as mechanisms for identifying objects within the interrogated region.
