1. An apparatus for imaging a fluidic device comprising a plurality of processing sites, the apparatus comprising:

  • an illumination system coupled to the fluidic device and adapted to illuminate the fluidic device with electromagnetic radiation, wherein the fluidic device is characterized by a device dimension about 30.7 mm by about 30.7 mm or greater, the device dimension including the plurality of processing sites;

    an imaging system coupled to the fluidic device and adapted to receive electromagnetic radiation emitted from the plurality of processing sites;

    a multi-pixel detector coupled to the imaging system and characterized by a detection area less than the device dimension; and

    a thermal controller coupled to the fluidic device.
