1. A zone control panel for controlling a multi-zone HVAC system having two or more menu modes, the zone control panel comprising:
- a mode selector for selecting a menu mode from the two or more menu modes, wherein the two or more menu modes include at least a configuration menu mode for use in configuring the zone control panel and an operational menu mode for use in operating the zone control panel;
a display for displaying to a user a selected menu, wherein the selected menu corresponds to the selected menu mode and has two or more menu screens;
wherein the selected menu for the configuration menu mode has a single level menu structure with no submenu levels;
one or more buttons for interacting with the selected menu;
wherein the one or more buttons are used to move about the selected menu and, if desired, make one or more changes to one or more programmable parameters identified by the selected menu;
wherein if one or more changes were made to one or more programmable parameters, the zone control panel causes a query to be displayed on the display querying the user to specify whether the one or more changes made to the programmable parameters should be saved prior to exiting the selected menu mode; and
wherein the zone control panel saves the changes made to the programmable parameters if an indication is received from the user via the one or more buttons in response to the query that the changes should be saved, and discards the changes made to the programmable parameters if an indication is not received from the user that the changes should be saved in response to the query.

Abstract
A zone control panel that is easy and intuitive to use and to program. In some embodiments, a zone control panel may be configured to have an easy to use, single level menu structure with, for example, a configuration mode and/or a checkout mode. The configuration mode may, if present, include a number of menu screens sometimes without any sub-menu levels. Likewise, the checkout mode may, if present, include a number of menu screens sometimes without any sub-menu levels. A mode selector may be provided to select a particular mode, after which, the menu screens that correspond to the selected mode may be sequentially displayed to the user. Other features and aspects are also disclosed.

a dedicated electro-mechanical mode selector for selecting a menu mode from the two or more menu modes, wherein each of two or more menu modes, once selected by the dedicated electro-mechanical mode selector, sequentially traverse through a corresponding single level menu structure without submenu levels, wherein each corresponding single level menu structure allows a user to sequentially traverse through two or more corresponding menu screens between a first menu screen and a last menu screen, wherein the two or more menu modes include at least a configuration menu mode for use in configuring the zone control panel and an operational menu mode for use in operating the zone control panel; a display for sequentially displaying two or more menu screens of a selected menu corresponding to the selected menu mode; one or more electro-mechanical buttons for interacting with the selected menu; wherein the one or more electro-mechanical buttons are used to move about the selected menu and, if desired, make one or more changes to one or more programmable parameters identified by the selected menu; wherein the dedicated electro-mechanical mode selector includes a mode select pushbutton, wherein sequentially pushing the mode select pushbutton causes the zone control panel to advance to a next menu mode and to display a corresponding first one of the two or more menu screens on the display; wherein the zone control panel is configured to permit a user to exit the selected menu before reaching the last menu screen of the selected menu; wherein if one or more changes were made to one or more programmable parameters using the selected menu, the zone control panel causes a query to be displayed on the display querying the user to specify whether the one or more changes made to the programmable parameters should be saved prior to exiting the selected menu mode; and wherein the zone control panel saves the changes made to the programmable parameters if an indication is received from the user via the one or more electro-mechanical buttons in response to the query that the changes should be saved, and discards the changes made to the programmable parameters if an indication is not received from the user that the changes should be saved in response to the query.

a dedicated electro-mechanical mode selector that permits selection of a menu mode from the two or more menu modes, wherein each of two or more menu modes, once selected by the dedicated electro-mechanical mode selector, sequentially traverse through a corresponding single level menu structure without submenu levels, wherein each corresponding single level menu structure allows a user to sequentially traverse through two or more corresponding menu screens between a first menu screen and a last menu screen; one or more electro-mechanical buttons for making one or more changes to one or more programmable parameters of the zone control panel while in a selected menu mode; wherein the dedicated electro-mechanical mode selector includes a mode select pushbutton, wherein sequentially pushing the mode select pushbutton causes the zone control panel to advance to a next menu mode and to display a corresponding first one of the two or more menu screens on the display; wherein the zone control panel is configured to track if any programmable parameters have been changed while the zone control panel is in a selected menu mode; wherein the zone control panel is configured to query a user if changes to the programmable parameters should be saved when exiting the selected menu mode when the zone control panel determines that one or more programmable parameters have been changed via the one or more buttons; and wherein the zone control panel is configured to save the changes made to the programmable parameters if an indication is received from the user in response to the query that the changes should be saved, and discard the changes made to the programmable parameters if an indication is received from the user in response to the query that the changes should not be saved. - View Dependent Claims (7, 8, 9, 10)
